boomerang

Boomerang! is a multiple-session character education program developed by Iowa State University. The program was named Boomerang! to represent this tool’s flight. If people practice sending positive messages to others, positive actions may be returned. Through the character education program, certain traits such as caring, respect, responsibility, fairness, trustworthiness, and citizenship will be stressed in order to maintain a positive, safe, and orderly learning environment and to prepare youth to become responsible, productive members of society.

In Boomerang! high school student volunteers facilitate the lessons that are presented to Durant’s fourth grade students. High school Team Teachers are trained in classroom management, character education, teaching techniques, and the application of these concepts through review and practice of the curriculum. The high school age volunteers are both teachers and role models that exhibit strong leadership qualities.
